How Domino Is Played
Domino is a game of both skill and strategy in which players use domino tiles edge-to-edge against one another to form lines or scores. Originating in Italy and France, its spread to England through French prisoners near the end of the 18th century. There are both single and double sided variants with various numbers of pip sides depending on which rules govern your specific game of domino; depending on which rules apply to it you may play it any number of ways.
Starting a game of domino requires one person drawing and placing a tile from the stock with its pips facing up on the table, with their domino hand often being known as either the “set,” “down,” or “lead.” Once that first tile has been placed, any number of other players may choose to add dominoes that match its color to create the game’s line of play.
A player can continue playing dominoes until either their line of play becomes full or they can no longer match another domino. A domino that joins this line, known as a dummy or dead domino, should have its pips hidden from other players and will not count toward their final total; the open end of any non-spinner domino must still be counted however.
Once all dominoes have been played, a winner is determined by either drawing new dominoes from the stock or declaring one to be placed as last domino; some games require that this player also place last domino for maximum impact; in others any player may purchase tiles and begin play immediately.
Domino is capable of using her psionic aura to generate an uncanny “domino effect,” giving her unanticipated good fortune while inflicting bad fortune upon her enemies. This ranges from making an enemy machine malfunction, or pressing the right button at just the right time to shut off an overloaded one; she may also utilize this ability against individuals or situations she believes are especially vulnerable.
After the Age of Apocalypse, Domino was recruited by Cable to co-lead his new X-Force team. She quickly formed relationships with former Six Pack teammates Grizzly and Copycat (later her romance). Later during a conflict between Donald Pierce’s ULTIMATUM terrorist organization and Milo Thurman’s Zero Tolerance division, Domino recruited Milo Thurman’s help infiltrating an antimutant research facility which had begun using human subjects for experimentation against mutants; their agents were exposed by Zero Tolerance agents and Cable was killed along with them all by him himself.
